M.C Escher The Life and Complete Graphic Work

Posted in Books at 6:05 am by southernstar

This is a brilliant book if you like the works of M.C Escher it has a lot of his drawings and some background to his life like where he was born ect. And how he came to develop his works.

One of my favorites, (there are many) is ‘Relativity’ and ‘Print Gallery’ so much detail and complexity. He was a genius.

It’s a book that people would like if they like optical illusion and also being confused.

Labyrinths – By Jorge Luis Borges

Posted in Books at 5:56 am by southernstar

This is an Excellent book, I must admit this is quite hard to read in places (for myself that it) it has some timeless stories, like ‘The Library of Babel’ it is something not of this earth or time. I must admit I have had to try and read some of his stories a few times and also there are some that I don’t understand or missed the undercurrent plot.

Well it’s worth a read if you want to read something different.

Mac Books

Posted in Mac OS and UNIX at 4:20 pm by southernstar

Here are some what I have found to be some good books to read if you are a beginner and also a Mac user.

Mac OS X (thats ten not ex as some people say) The Missing manual, Tiger Edition. by David Pogue.

There are some intresting infomation on how to use the Mac and also some (little history) ranges the new features such as spotlight (as I heard the new windows will not include) to the Dashboard. and also covers a little about the terminal (bash- mac chosen shell).

Unix for Mac OS Tiger by Dave Taylor.

I found this book very useful , easy to read and a very good layout and goes thou the basics of UNIX and also mentions some editing programs for UNIX as well. best book I have bourght so for for Mac and UNIX.

UNIX in a Nutshell 3rd Edition by Arnold Robbins.

This book is not really for beginners , sure it goes thou a lot of UNIX commands but it is only for reference only it is not meant to be read from start to finish , suitable for meduim to advanced users. Still a decent book for reference.
